Hand-Made Area Rugs

Hand-made rugs have a certain built-in value that rank them above the machine-made products. The labor that goes into creating Hand-made rugs makes them more costly and in turn, result in a product with higher expectations of both care and quality. Hand-made carpets involve an endless series of choices and decisions, minor twists and turns, that collectively give the piece its unique personality and presence, something that even the finest machine made carpet lacks.

Machine-Made Area Rugs

Machine-Made rugs are generally made from the same materials as hand-made rugs: wool, silk, and cotton, often of high quality. The standards of fabrication may also be high, and consistently so. But machine made rugs are mechanical in their execution, and often in their design as well. They are generally lower in cost because they are produced in larger quantities. In addition to the fibers mentioned above, some machine-made rugs are made with polypropolene, olefin and other synthetic fibers.
